Democrat Frederica Wilson fails at using the race card. She says the term “empty barrel” is racist. She also claims to be the next “rock star” for the black community.
Rep. Frederica Wilson (D- Fla) has been engaged in a battle of words with President Trump this week. It seems Ms. Wilson claims that the president was disrespectful in a phone call to the family of Sgt. La David Johnson who was killed in an attack in Niger earlier this month.
Trump responded on Wednesday by saying that Wilson “totally fabricated what I said.” Wilson replied by saying that the president is “a sick man.” This morning, Trump countered by tweeting “I hope the Fake News Media keeps talking about Wacky Congresswoman Wilson in that she, as a representative, is killing the Democrat Party.”
Chief of Staff John Kelly (who is a Gold Star father) blasted Wilson for politicizing the sensitive nature of the call, and likened Wilson to an “empty barrel.” Most people would know that the term “empty barrel” is a reference to someone who tries to fire a gun that has no bullets.
But the congresswoman, who has bragged about becoming a “rock star” as a result of this situation, played the race card by claiming “empty barrel” is in fact “a racist term. We looked it up in the dictionary.”
I’ve been searching everywhere for even a hint that “empty barrel” might in any way be considered a racist comment, and I’m sorry, but I haven’t been able to find any such link. If you have any evidence otherwise, I would ask you to kindly enlighten the rest of us.
Crying racism when it does not exist does not serve anyone well, especially the Democrats at this point, as it’s sure to drive moderate voters to the Republican Party.
Regardless of just about everything else, whenever I see a politician wearing flamboyant clothing on a podium, I head for the hills. That’s someone who seeks attention and most likely has their own personal agenda. Bingo with Ms. Wilson.
Congresswoman Wilson is trying to turn the tragic death of an American soldier into her own personal victory. Will she become the next Al Sharpton?
